Coronavirus and Annual Leave

New guidance has just been posted on annual leave.

For members who are ill annual leave will be converted to sick leave and annual leave can be used later in the year.

For members who are self isolating or on special leave with pay you can still take your annual leave and your requirement to be contactable will no longer apply. If you cannot do what you had planned you do not need to take your annual leave and can use it later in the year.

For members who are working from home you can take your annual leave and should not do any work on those days. If you cannot do what you had planned you do not need to take your annual leave and can use it later in the year.

For members who are still at work you can take your annual leave and should not do any work on those days. If you cannot do what you had planned you do not need to take your annual leave and can use it later in the year. Remember that annual leave is for rest and recuperation. Many members who are at work are under considerable stress and you need to take care of your own physical and mental health.

Due to the leave situation when we all return to work it may not be possible to grant all leave requests. If you cannot negotiate an acceptable compromise with your line manager please consult a rep. The carry over limit of 10 days has been waived for this year but will apply to the following leave year.

If you have problems please contact a rep. You may need to do this using the branch shared mailbox.

Further details are on the intranet.

Please stay safe and follow the hygiene and social distancing advice.

Work from home if you can.

If you or someone you live with experience potential symptoms then self-isolate for 14 days.

If you are vulnerable because of age, a health condition or are pregnant you should go home if you cannot work from home. You will get special leave with pay. See here for guidance of vulnerable groups.

If you have questions please speak to a rep and/or your line manager or you can contact us using the branch shared mailbox.

If you don't think that you are being treated fairly or your manager is not sending you home when you believe that they should please use the How to get help with a personal case instruction. This also has a link to the shared mailbox.
